Study and Examinations |
|
|
The faculty follows the semester
system of study. In order to obtain
the Bachelor of Science degree in
engineering, students have to study
8 semesters divided into 4 years,
i.e. two semesters per year. In
addition, students have to complete
summer training programs. The total
of credit hours should be no less
than 458.
Each semester lasts 17 weeks (4
months) including two weeks
allocated for final examinations.
The first semester (Autumn) starts
in October and ends 31 January,
while the second semester (Spring)
starts 1 March and ends 30 June.
February is allocated for midterm
holiday.
Compulsory and optional courses are
dispensed for fourth year only. |

|
Attendance |
|
|
1. Attending lectures on a regular
basis is compulsory.
Absence from examinations is not
accepted without suitable excuse.
2. Excuses should be forwarded to
the registrar.
Students' excuses will be considered
by the registrar and a member of
staff. If they do not take a
decision, then the excuses will be
transferred to the dean of the
faculty. If the dean does not reach
a decision, then the matter will be
considered by the popular committee
of the faculty which takes the final
decision. |

|
Withdrawals |
|
|
Students are permitted to withdraw
from the semester in which they have
registered if they their excuses are
accepted by the popular committee of
the faculty a month before final
examinations. |

The Tutoring System |
|
|
Each department distributes its
students among tutors who are staff
members in the department. Each
tutor or advisor guides his students
in order for them to obtain maximum
benefit during their study. The
tutor plays an important role in the
semester system as he has good
experience in choosing the best ways
which may help the student to
succeed in his study. |
|
|
The Preliminarily System |
|
|
Some subjects are considered as
preliminaries for others during the
study. Students are not allowed to
register in any subject unless they
have passed the preliminary ones.
Scientifically speaking, the
preliminary courses are considered
to be as introductions which have
basic information for the main
courses which come later.
Examinations
Midterm examinations take place
during the semester which can be one
or two examination in one semester
for each subject. The date of
midterm examinations is decided by
the instructors. Final examinations
are held by the end of each
semester.
