The Faculty of Information Technology

We live in an era where the value of information is increasing rapidly. Its effect on our society depends on the prevalence and the application of this information. Information should be spread among specialists in the first place in order to be of the utmost benefit to individuals, society and its institutions. The importance of gaining information springs from its crucial role in developing people. Therefore, the role of the computer as a means of communication plays a vital role in facilitating the flow of information and its pervasiveness in all walks of life.
International experience tells us that backward people are those who did not experience the industrial revolution or who experienced it at later stages; whereas the backward people of tomorrow will be those who have not experienced the revolution of information yet or who have not kept up with the technological revolution that accompanied the technical revolution.
Accordingly, the Faculty of Information Technology was established in 2006 in keeping with Article 27 issued by the Committee of Higher Education whose main concern is information technology. Therefore, the Faculty contributes to developing the educational network through the training and preparation of qualified local trainees who will contribute to the plan of developing manpower and education as a whole. In addition, the Faculty aims to establish a higher level of technology and to contribute to educating a qualified generation who are able to deal with the newly developed technology and therefore, able to serve many different sectors in the society through offering scientific and technical logistic advice. Finally, the Faculty seeks to distribute the information culture and to bring to light the mechanization peculiar to information technology.
